Just like melted Ferro rocher, this hazelnut chocolate spread is rich in flavours and nutty in taste. The flavour of roasted hazelnut with cocoa powder is the best combination in the world. This spread is so quick and easy, I bet you will be adding this Chocolate Hazelnut Spread to almost everything you eat!!!!
Confession: When I started making this spread I was aiming for Nutella, not this spread but this turned so yummy I couldn't resist myself from sharing this recipe. This spread is best eaten with a toast or a with plain white bread. This has become one of my favourite timepass snack.
The good news about the spread is we are that using real ingredients like hazelnuts, cocoa powder, sugar and vegetable oil.
HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT SPREAD
ROAST THE HAZELNUTS: The very first step is to roast your hazelnuts. Like any other nuts hazelnuts gains a much deeper and nutty flavour from being roasted. This can be done in 2 ways. If you are using a gas stove then roast hazelnuts for 8-10 min continuously stirring. If you using oven then bake for 8 min at 180c in a preheated oven.
BLEND THE HAZELNUTS INTO NUT BUTTER: You can use a blender or food processor to turn the hazelnuts into nut butter. Blend in the mixer jar for 5 min over high speed. You will likely need to scrape the sides of the container a few times along the way. The nuts will crush itself, then turn into a paste, and eventually, you will hear the oil release and it will turn into smooth nut butter.
200 g hazelnuts
2 tbsp oil
90 g powdered sugar
40 g cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla essence
pinch of salt
Preheat your oven to 180c.
Place the hazelnuts on a sheet pan and spread them out. Cook for 8 min. Let the hazelnuts come to room temp.
Place the hazelnuts into a blender jar and blend for 5-6 minutes, or until you have a creamy hazelnut butter. Add the oil and blend for another minute.
Now add the sugar, cocoa powder and vanilla and blend until fully combined.
Pour the spread into a storage container or enjoy immediately.
